Screaming Banshee Aircrew/Rome Burns concert, Saturday [22 Nov 2007|01:47am]

Screaming Banshee Aircrew

"a droll rock cabaret shot through with the dark humour of two vocalists. The couple act out their set - the high point of which is a burlesque lovers' tiff - like some 1920s Weimar Berlin show morphed through a goth-punk processor." (Ed Vulliamy, The Observer)
"an arsenal of tunes clearly outlawed by international treaty" (Sandman Magazine)

Rome Burns

"erudite, wordy, quirky" (Starvox)
"Brilliant in virtually every way" (Mick Mercer)

Cabaret Voltaire, Blair street, Edinburgh.
Saturday 24th November 2007 - Doors 7pm
Tickets £6 (stbf) from Ripping Records, Ticketmaster, or Underground Nation, Candlemaker Row, Edinburgh

Friday [20 Jul 2005|11:20pm]

Holyrood park, meet from 9 at the bottom of the 3 duck ponds. We will depart from there at 9:30 latest.

Check weather reports, if it's going to/high likely to rain, assume it's off. I'm gonna be borrowing hardware and won't put it at risk.

By now you should know what I'm on about, if not, forget it.

It's finally happened [05 Jul 2005|04:58am]

I have finally made a decision.

My night of being terribly Goffick halfway up into the middle of Holyrood Park will be held upon the night of Friday 22nd July 2005 (weather permitting). This should hopefully give me time to find the necessary hardware. Please reply if you intend to come along.

Meeting arrangements will be passed out closer to the time, when I work it out.

Oops [24 Jun 2005|06:39pm]

as it has been pointed out to me that G8 finishes the weekend of the 8th July, I am offering the following dates for my cunning plan of sitting halfway up a hill and being Goffs till the sun comes up.

15th, 16th, 22nd, 23rd of July.

again, if interested, please respond with your preference. and any that are definite no-nos.

cross posted on me own journal. (sorta)

Overdue plan update. Sorry about the sporadicness [24 Jun 2005|12:39pm]

It's another overdue entry regarding my overnight stay halfway up a hill in the middle of Holyrood Park for musicalness and chatting.

Not been doing enough to get this sorted, so here be first official suggestion, put out for perusal.

Weather permitting, I reckon we can try for 8th July ( I think), which should be two weeks hence on Friday. Meet at the bottom car park, beside the palace, and move up from there. Being a bit crap, precise position is a little hard for me to accurately place, but basically up and into the middle a bit from the chapel, where we should be at least partially surrounded on three sides for wind considereations, not too high up, yadda yadda. If that sounds too vague, I do actually know where I mean and could easily walk anyone to the spot I mean.

Anyway, this is semi-official. In that it's what I'd like to go for, but if you have alternative suggestions/change requests let me know and it could change.

In any case, if you are interested in joining me on this endeavour, please please please respond as otherwise I won't believe it's going to happen at all.

A Suggestion [10 Apr 2005|04:47am]

This is cross-posted off my own journal, so apologies to those that read both.

Sod it, this thing is underused anyway. Oh yeah, the suggestion:

Basically it involves wandereing off into the heights of Holyrood park with a bit of booze and some method of playing decent goth music (not all meaningless bleep, preferably somthing a little hollow and haunting) from dusk till dawn.

Logistically it'd involve meeting up before dusk sets in so we could travel and find a spot before it gets too dark and kind of ensconce ourselves there as the sun goes down until it comes up again and we can find our way back down again.

Curious to know if anyone'd be interested in joining me.

Thatch Noir [08 Nov 2004|08:05am]

[ mood | awake ]

Anyone who has been reading my journal will have been seeing this bands name crop up under the 'current music' section as of late.

This is what is rapidly becoming one of my favourite bands, the Sydney based Thatch Noir which is headed up by the Sex Gang Children loving andispandex

Thatch Noir on Soundclick <--- Free Download Goodness ;)

Furher information is available on Thatch Noir's website

I'm hoping to order a copy of their album soon, and no doubt your have to endure me coming over all mickmercer-esque, with a review when I get it.

However in the meantime, enjoy.

Vampire Division [30 Oct 2004|07:01am]

I stumbled across this recently while searching through soundclick.com for some new Thatch Noir tracks.

You can download a lot of stuff (legally, and for free) from Vampire Division at http://www.soundclick.com/pro/?BandID=187329.

Vampire Division is Tony McKormack of Inkubus Sukkubus fame's latest solo project.

I haven't listened to all of the stuff from Vampire Division that's available there yet, but from a quick listen it's not too bad. Unsurprisingly it sounds like Inky Sukk with tougher vocals.

LJ Icon Needed! [28 Aug 2004|06:24pm]

I've decided to update the description, likes/dislikes etc for the community, and realised that we don't have an LJ icon for the community.

If anyone has a good one to use, or wants to make one. I'll stick it up for the community.

At the moment, I'm recording a not very good goth compilation from Dressed To Kill Records onto my computer, and so I'm taking the opportunity to go through the various tracks as they copy on.

Most of them are either bland and mediocre, or just plain crap. However there's the odd track that stands out as decent, although I have to admit most of those are by Andy Sexgang.

However there is somethign I stumbled across that I'm very glad off, and which I'm about to put on instead, which is a band called The Breath of Life.

The goth net radio station SlagHuis: Radio Free Abattoir has a dowloads section on it's site http://www.slaghuis.net/archive/mp3.html and I got two tracks from the band off of there, called 'The Valley' and 'Worries'. I thoroughly recommend folks to give them a listen. I particularly like Worries.
